Wildcats Notebook

Short-handed Wildcats fall to WVR Dolphins 10-9 - Despite having only six players today, the Wildcats churned up some serious offensive production in an abbreviated game at Scharmyn Park. Hazel Rouse and Mikaela Knupsky hammered the biggest outfield blasts of the season. Jenna Gobrecht, Caitlin Gazica, and Sophia Zugai also hit well. Gracie Bonnett made some stellar stops in the field. The Wildcats also recorded their first put-out at second base on an exchange between Gobrecht and Rouse.

Wildcats top WVR Purple Panthers, 12-10 - The Wildcats earned today's win with solid play on both sides of the ball. The entire lineup contributed hits, including a double by Jaycee Prescott. The highlight of the day (and the season so far) was the first hit for Gracie Bonnett. The entire Wildcats' camp went plain nuts in celebration of this personal victory.

Wildcats show promise in 10-9 loss to BAGAA Purple Panthers - It's been weeks since the Wildcats have seen game action, but you wouldn't know it by today's performance. There was strong hitting throughout the lineup, including a first-ever single by Maddie Kubicky. Even more impressively, the Wildcats showed progress defensively, throwing out several baserunners and playing much more heads-up ball. Jaycee Prescott, Jenna Gobrecht, and Caitlin Gazica anchored a strong infield. Prescott was robbed mid-game when a would-be double was snagged on an excellent play by BAGAA's Aidan Harrison.

After a long road trip to Economy, the Wildcats seemed sleepy at first, but came alive with a fourth-inning rally, including a double by Hazel Rouse. The Wildcats hit around the order in the inning, putting five runs on the board, but still falling short 13-10 to the Lady Tigers. Sophia Zugai was an offensive standout, sweeping the infield and grabbing up every ground ball in sight. The team will practice twice before its next contest on May 17.
